Tianjin Research Institute of Water Transport Engineering of Ministry of Transport
Tianjin Research Institute of Water Transport Engineering of Ministry of Transport, a scientific research institute established in 1974 under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, situated at the beautiful Tianjin Binhai New Area. It covers an area of 340,000 square meters and has a construction area of 160,000 square meters. It has 3 key laboratories in transport sector: Laboratory for Engineering Sediments, Laboratory for Hydraulic Construction Detection, Diagnosis and Reinforcement Techniques, and Laboratory for Water Transport Environment Protection Technology, and 4 research centers of water transport sector: test and inspection, FAQ of measurement equipment, hydrodynamic numerical simulation, and environmental protection. Andit has a dozen of scientific research departments including Tianjin Water Transport Engineering Survey Design Institute, Tianke Supervision Consulting Agency and Tianjin Dongfang Tairui Technology Co.,Ltd etc, whose achievements enjoy great prestige both at home and abroad.
With more than 30 years of development, now TIWTE has formed the powerful core competitiveness by its unique culture, standardized management, excellent team, good technology and renowned brand with more than 30 years of development. .
At present, it has 16 test halls equipped with advanced systems of wind, wave, current, sediment, vessel, and hydraulic construction simulation systems, and owns many advanced numerical simulation software such as Mike21, Delft3D, Ansys and software like TK-2D etc with proprietary intellectual property rights. The Large Hydrodynamic Laboratory will be built into a national scientific research platform for conducting water transport fundamental theory researches meeting the demand of the world , making major breakthroughs in technologies, and cultivating high-level talents.
TIWTE has obtained ten first-rate certificates such as Engineering Consultation, Environmental Impact Assessment, Sea Area Use Demonstration, Structural Testing and Inspection of Water Transport Engineering, Engineering Investigation, Surveying and Mapping, Channel Engineering Design, Environmental Engineering Design, Water Transport Engineering Supervision, and Safety Evaluation. It has undertaken a great deal of researches work for more than one hundred of National Science and Technology and Key Water Transport Construction Projects concerning transport sector, won nearly a hundred national awards for science and technology progress and provincial or ministerial prizes for science and technology progress, and provided essential scientific and technical support for many domestic and foreign transport construction projects.
